Clinical Supervision

Creating Space for Reflection, Growth and Ethical Practice
As therapists, we need our own space to process, reflect and develop. Whether you’re working towards accreditation or you’re an experienced practitioner, quality supervision is essential – not just for meeting professional requirements, but for sustaining ourselves in this demanding work.
I offer clinical supervision for counsellors and psychotherapists at all stages of their careers, with a particular focus on trauma-informed practice.

My Supervision Approach

I work from a relational, humanistic model of supervision. This means our supervisory relationship is central to the work we do together. I tailor my style to your experience level and needs.
My particular areas of expertise include:
– Complex trauma and PTSD – Developmental and attachment trauma – Working with dissociation
– Therapeutic relationship dynamics – Trauma-informed practice across modalities
I receive regular clinical supervision for my own practice and attend ongoing CPD training to develop my skills as both a therapist and supervisor
Fees
– Individual supervision: £80 per hour
One-to-one supervision provides dedicated time for your cases and development. Sessions are typically 60-90 minutes and can be held monthly, fortnightly, or weekly depending on your requirements. This format allows for deep exploration of your work and offers the privacy to discuss challenging situations or personal responses to client material.
– Group supervision for 4 attendees: £120 per 1.5 hr session
Group supervision offers the richness of learning from peers alongside supervisory input. Groups typically meet monthly for 1.5 – 2 hours and usually accommodate up to 4 therapists.

Therapists Working with Trauma
If you work with complex trauma, abuse survivors, or clients with attachment difficulties, specialist supervision can help you navigate the challenges this work brings. We’ll explore counter-transference, vicarious trauma, and how to hold difficult material while protecting your own wellbeing.
Qualified Therapists
Maintaining registration with BACP, UKCP or other professional bodies requires regular supervision. Beyond meeting this requirement, ongoing supervision helps you stay reflective, ethically grounded, and connected to why you do this work.
Trainee Counsellors
If you’re working towards your qualification and accreditation, supervision provides the crucial support and guidance you need during your placement hours. I can help you develop your clinical skills, navigate the challenges of starting out, and build confidence in your practice.

Therapists Seeking a Relational Approach
If you value a supervisory relationship that’s collaborative rather than hierarchical, where there’s space for both support and challenge, my approach may resonate with you.

– Focus on the Relationship
Much of what happens between you and your clients will show up in our supervisory relationship. I pay attention to parallel process, counter-transference and how your responses to clients can illuminate what’s happening in the therapeutic relationship.

What you can expect from supervision with me:

 – A Safe, Reflective Space
Supervision should feel like a place where you can be honest about your struggles, uncertainties and mistakes. I create a non-judgmental environment where we can explore what’s really happening in your work – including the parts that feel uncomfortable.
 – Balance of Support and Challenge
I’ll support you through the difficulties of therapeutic work while also challenging you to grow. Helping you think more deeply, see blind spots, and develop your practice.
 – Your Development as a Therapist
Beyond individual cases, we’ll explore your broader development – your theoretical orientation, areas for further training, self-care practices, and your identity as a therapist.

 – Ethical and Practical Grounding
We’ll ensure your practice meets ethical standards and professional requirements. This includes discussing boundaries, confidentiality dilemmas, risk assessment, and navigating complex situations.

Practicalities

Frequency and Commitment
BACP requires 1.5 hours of supervision per month for qualified practitioners, though your specific requirements may vary. Trainees typically need more frequent supervision.
I ask for a minimum three-month commitment to allow the supervisory relationship to develop. After this, we’ll review regularly to ensure supervision continues to meet your needs.
Location and Format
Supervision is available both in-person at my practice in Knebworth, Hertfordshire and online via secure video call.

I ask for 48 hours notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or missed sessions will be charged at the full rate, as this time is reserved specifically for you.
Supervision Contract
We’ll establish a clear supervision contract at the start of our work together, covering practicalities, expectations, responsibilities, and how we’ll work together. This will be reviewed regularly.

Is This the Right Supervision for You?

Good supervision requires a good match. Here are some signs we might work well together:
– You value a relational, collaborative approach to supervision
– You’re willing to reflect on your own process, not just client material
– You appreciate both support and challenge
– You work with trauma or want to develop trauma-informed practice
– You’re committed to ongoing learning and development
– You want supervision that goes beyond “box-ticking”
If you’re unsure whether my supervision style would suit you, I offer a free initial consultation where we can discuss your needs and see if we’re a good fit.
